Job Description

MP SHAH Hoapital is seeking to hire a Consultant paediatrician who will be responsible for the clinical care of patients in the paediatric department and will report to the Head of department-Paediatrics.

Clinical areas of coverage include management of acute Paediatric illnesses and emergencies, chronic illnesses and referrals, Infant and young child feeding as well as nutrition education for older children. Well-baby/well-child clinics for growth and development monitoring, and immunization tracking.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Attending and managing acute paediatric cases and emergencies as well as chronic cases and referrals in the outpatient centre.
Facilitating inpatient admission and follow-up diagnostics, review and management of patients in the paediatric ward and newborn unit.
Conduct well-baby/Well-child consultations for growth and development monitoring, nutrition consultation and vaccination.
Provide Clinical education to patients and caregivers on common childhood illnesses, childhood immunization and nutrition.
Attend Newborn deliveries in maternity/Theatre department and follow-up care for all newborns until discharge from the hospital.
Provide breastfeeding support and clinical education regarding newborn care for mothers in the postnatal ward.
Organize and facilitate follow-up clinics for newborn patients.
Ensure all necessary documentation as required is done in a timely manner and recorded as per the Hospital policies.
Keep updated patients records in regard to acute or chronic illnesses, surgical procedures and other significant clinical encounters such as allergic conditions.
Provide supervision to junior doctors through supervised patient reviews and clinical procedures, case presentations and continuous medical education.
Keep abreast of advancements in Paediatrics and best clinical practices by attending seminars, conferences and relevant clinical meetings/CMEs
Actively participate in all clinical and administrative activities at departmental and institutional levels such as Hospital clinical committees, clinical drills, audits etc.


Requirements

A Master’s Degree in Paediatrics and Child Health from a recognized University
A Certificate of Registration from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
A valid practising license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
At least 3 years of clinical experience as a Paediatrician with in-depth knowledge and experience in clinical diagnosis and management of paediatric illnesses and emergencies.
Valid BLS & EPLS certification.
Demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability as reflected in work performance
Up to date knowledge of paediatric drug prescription standards and online prescription systems
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, patient and calm

Medical Officer

Premier hospital is seeking to recruit a Medical Officer to attend to patients in the Outpatient and Inpatient departments in line with Standard Treatment Guideline

Main duties and responsibilities: –

INPATIENT

Reviewing patients in the in-patient department in conjunction with the admitting consultant.
Attending to direct admissions.
Attending to any emergencies in the In-patient department.
Conducting daily mini ward rounds and accompanying consultants during their rounds.
Performing minor procedures like intravenous cannulation, NG tube fixation among others.
Writing medical reports and discharge summaries.
Participation in trainings including weekly CMEs
Maintaining medical records through proper documentation of patients’ medical histories
Counseling patients and relatives on diagnosis and bereavement
Report any issues that may have arisen during the shift to the Medical Officer In- Charge.


OUTPATIENT

Attending to patients in the Out Patient department as per Standard Treatment Guidelines.
Attending to any emergencies in the A&E
Participation in trainings including weekly CMEs
Maintaining medical records through proper documentation of patient’s medical history and procedures done
Counseling patients and relatives on diagnosis and bereavement
Reporting any issues that may have arisen during the shift to the Medical Officer In- Charge in real-time
Ensuring all qualifications are up-to date including ACLS & BLS certifications, medical license and Annual retention certificate


Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

BLS AND ACLS certificates is a MUST.
ATLS is an added advantage.
Registration with The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
Retention Certificate from The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
1-year post internship experience in a busy hospital.

Nephrology Nurse

Premier hospital is seeking to recruit a Nephrology Nurse

Main duties and responsibilities:

Ensures the preparation of the delivery system, dialysate bath, and dialyzer and confirms that all mandatory alarm tests on the dialyzer and equipment are performed.
Reviews physician orders for dialysis patients, collects pre-treatment dialysis data, and reviews patient records prior to dialysis.
Conducts pre-dialysis patient assessment including obtaining patient vital signs and assessing the patient’s vascular access, laboratory findings, and the patient’s general health.
Documents findings of patient assessments and interventions and advises providers of any significant change in the patient’s condition and other pertinent information.
Monitors patient reaction to treatment and performance of the dialysis machines, and demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the mechanics of dialysis
Assesses, prepares, and cannulates a patient’s vascular access (including needle insertion in arteriovenous fistula or grafts for aseptic connection with dialysis equipment).
Utilizes sterile techniques to assess the dialysis catheter exit site and to apply dressing on the patient’s vascular access (dialysis catheter, arteriovenous access) per protocols.
Maintains skills necessary to perform surveillance on dialysis access (catheter, fistula, graft) for early signs of failure or infection.
Reviews patient’s records for orders as appropriate and administers dialysis related intra-venous and/or oral medications as prescribed.
Conducts post dialysis assessment and patient discharge by evaluating treatment, documenting medication administration utilizing the appropriate protocols, assessing condition of vascular access


Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

Higher diploma in Nephrology nursing
Valid Practice license
BLS/ACLS Certification
4 years working experience
